Travel Bag essentials: Makeup/Skincare/Haircare Edition

It’s that time of the year again! You and everyone you know is holidaying in some exotic part of the world and your Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram is flooding with holiday posts.

So, lets talk about the makeup/skincare essentials you need to stuff into that little makeup bag you’ll be taking on your trip.

Sunscreen

This is the most important skincare product in my list. It doesn’t matter where you’re going, you need to apply sunscreen generously on your face, arms and legs, each day before stepping out.

Mascara

Definitely my most favourite make up product is the mascara. It’s amazing how just a coat of mascara on your eyelashes can brighten up your eyes and how it makes your face look all dolled up.

Eye brow pencil

I’m not sure about you ladies, but for me eyebrows can make a huge difference to how the face looks. Well-groomed and defined eyebrows bring structure and elegance to the face. An eye brow pencil with a smudger can be a great tool to get the perfect brow while vacationing.

Lipstick/Lip gloss and Lip balm

Another travel bag essential is a lipstick or lip gloss (whichever you’re fond of in whichever shade that suits you most) to add that pop of colour to your lips and to add that glow to your face. Don’t forget to pack in a lip balm too, to keep your lips moisturised and nourished throughout the holiday.

Face cream

A small tub of face cream or a little tube of moisturizer comes in handy when your face is feeling a bit dull and to smoothen out the dry patches.

Eye cream

This is a bedtime ritual you shouldn’t avoid even while on holiday. Squeeze in that travel size eye cream to use each night, so that your eye area is nourished and hydrated.

Face wash

I always make it a point to carry my favourite face wash in a travel friendly bottle or tube. You should cleanse your face and get rid of all the makeup, sweat and impurities each night, before bedtime. But try avoiding make up remover wipes. Although they’re easy to use, a good ol’ face wash does the job more efficiently.

Toner

A bottle of rose water can come in handy. It doubles up as a toner as well as a wake up spray for your face. Make sure to pack this one in too.

Body lotion

A medium sized body lotion is an essential skincare product that you’ll have to remember to take along for your trip. Go for a mildly scented one to keep yourself refreshed throughout the day or if you’re sensitive or allergic to certain fragrances, pack in a hypoallergenic body lotion, to keep your skin hydrated, while you’re on the go.

Hair serum

A small bottle of hair serum can keep frizz at bay and you don’t have to worry about little fly aways and dry ends.

Dry Shampoo

Lets be honest, all of us worry about bad hair days, and no one wants to wash their hair every alternate day, while on holiday. So, here comes the dry shampoo as your saviour for all the bad hair days. Just a few sprays of this magic potion, and ta-dah, bouncy, voluminous and oil-free hair in a few seconds!

Travel size shampoo and conditioner

Don’t forget to take a small travel size bottle of the shampoo and conditioner you would normally use at home. (Unless you want to try your luck with the shampoo and conditioner that your hotel provides).

Miscellaneous

Hand sanitizer, wet wipes, a pack of face tissues and hand cream are some of the other essentials that you shouldn’t forget to pack in your travel pouch.

So, that was a rather big list of travel bag beauty essentials. Did I miss out on anything? Please let me know your list and what you pack in your beauty bag for the holidays.
