Wardrobe Essentials Spring Summer ’15 – Part 1

Hello lovelies! Sorting out our wardrobes can be a huge task. Deciding what clothes we need to keep and what to buy for the next season isn’t easy. We all need some basic pieces in our wardrobe, which are casual and can be dressed up or down with jewellery and accessories. But then, we also need some fun and quirky pieces, for going out clubbing and partying. And yes, some classic pieces, which are timeless and elegant. I’ve tried to categorise this post into sections – so there will be posts about clothes, jewellery, bags, shoes….yayy!

So, here’s Part 1 of my Wardrobe Essentials.

1. The Shirt

Now, this is a must-have piece in your wardrobe. Although there are the basic collared shirts which are a staple, there is also the other variety of shirts which you all should have in your wardrobe. I’m talking about the blouse like shirt with an embellished collar. This shirt is neither too basic nor too OTT. It has a bit of bling but can be made to look a bit formal by adding a blazer. Just keep in mind, the sun’s out, so why not get a happy, bright colour?

2. The Distressed Denim

A basic pair of jeans is definitely a must-have. But to jazz it up a bit, why not invest in a good pair of ripped / distressed jeans? They are comfortable, look cool and are a summer staple. You can opt for any style – regular, boyfriend or skinny. They come in different washes. Some are ripped at the knee and some have serious shredding all over. So, pick what you love.

3. The Day Dress

Ok, so this one is a staple for spring/summer. Why not opt for a floral pattern, midi dress in pastel hues? Or a one-colour pastel dress with a bit of lace…I’m thinking a beige or caramel or salmon pink dress! The day dress is perfect for brunch at a café, shopping or a day out at the mall. There are a variety of prints from florals to geometric and a range of colours from whites and pastels to brights and neons. Go, take your pick, choose a style that complements your body type.

4.  The Playsuit

Playsuits are comfortable and stylish at the same time. They come in different colours and styles  – with cut outs, lace, pattern, embellishments, different necklines and sleeve lengths. There are the ones with collars, the off-shoulder ones, the dressy ones and the baggy ones. Pair them with some comfortable sandals for a casual look or dress them up with some heels.

5. The Crop Top

This one is my favourite. You need to have at least 3 crop tops in your wardrobe – a black, a white and one in your favourite colour. Crop tops look so good with high-waisted jeans or trousers and with high-waisted  skirts too. They are comfortable, glamourous and and summery – all at the same time.
